Kit List
We believe in being prepared for all eventualities, no matter how "normal" or "easy" they seem at first. Some things just cannot be expected.
All adventurers must be self-reliant.
Also be prepared to carry your kit to the campsite - keep it compact.
Minimum Items, Required for all our Outings
- Walking boots or sturdy trainers (waterproof!)
- Appropriate layers of clothing (cover up lightly to avoid sun, cover up warmly in cold and windy conditions)
- Small rucksack (15L suggested minimum)
- Water bottle (absolute min 1L)
- Waterproof coat (lightweight or insulated, depending on layers and weather)
- Waterproof trousers (overtrousers or full thickness - wet, cold legs are not happy ones)
- Food (packed lunch for all days, with extra snackables)
Recommended Additional Items
- Personal first aid kit (pain relief, plasters and anything more vital)
- Hat (warm layer and/or shade)
- Gloves (ideally waterproof, even summer nights can be cold in UK)
- Spare plastic bag (for separating wet/dry clothes, or sitting on wet ground)
- Boiled sweets (for maintaining energy levels, or bartering)
- Local area map (Ordnance Survey; ideally a paper-based one with waterproof cover - you cannot rely on electronic devices outside for long!)
- Torch (for signalling, wayfinding at night or other investigations)
- Whistle (for signalling in emergencies or over a distance)
Extras Required, Depending on Outing
- Tent
- Sleeping mat
- Sleeping bag
- Extra warmth... blankets, thick socks, hat
- Camping stove + cooking equipment (depending on your food preferences)
- Matches/Lighter
- Pen knife (small blade for crafting)
- Pad of paper (for notes, games or letterboxing/geocaching)
- Pen
- Small games (for the evenings and downtime)
- Any small outdoor hobby (so long as it's not disruptive to others)
- Suncream (weather dependent)
- Bottle opener (you can be the hero of the camp!)
- Larger, overnight rucksack/holdall
